After his strokes, I doubt there was any way Curly could've maintained the stamina and energy needed for the four or five days it took to shoot each short. Would you REALLY have wanted to see a diminished Curly trying to hold his own with the other three? It was bad eneough seeing him in films like BIRD IN THE HAND.
