I tried watching True Blood - he was terrible. In Melancholia he is terrible. In Diary of a Teenage Girl he is ok but clearly the weakest link in the cast.
Is he skating by on nepotism and looks or is there a film that might change my mind?
Censorship is advertising paid by the government.

If you didn't like him in any of those you just plain don't like him.
He's made it on his own talent. Nothing to do with his father.

Skarsgard's acting talent lies in layering his characters and using subtle variations in facial,eye and body language to convey these layers. If you aren't picking up on them, he's not an actor for you.

Huh.. No no! Sorry but u are wrong.. Alex is a great actor.. Tarzan.. Straw dogs.. True blood etc.. He has his own unqine craft to his acting.. (U have the right to ur opinion..)
