What Happened?

Dragonball Evolution happened. Probably will set her back a few years now.
That was only her second movie in three years. I really don't think DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION is to blame for her slipping career.

The only movie I like with her is Mystic River and at least, she dies quickly in it.
For the Phantom of the Opera, it was the worst adaptation of the book, even 1998 Dario Argento version did it better, in the way it's so bad it's good, the Rossum version didn't even manage to be that kind of watchable. Buttler did a horrible job at singing, Rossum was invisible as Christine and in the 1989 version at least Robert Englund/Jill Schoelen have some chemistry Probably Rossum best performance, but everytime the actors sing in that movie my ears bleed, that didn't help. The rest was ok, but not good enough compare to other adaptations of the Phantom. With the teaser I was waiting for a lot more. With the trailer, when Buttler start singing, yeah I had a bad feeling about this, so this is not like I was really surprise when I see the movie.
For Poseidon and The Day After Tomorrow, come on, they are just blockbuster movies like many others
I hear about her very often on the Perez Hilton site (like today on Coco Perez) and I'm always very surprise because she only make two "hits" movies. She's probably a friend of him or something, he always do that with his friends, but at least Lady Gaga is popular right now.

It never ceases to amaze me how people ask questions without ever even reading a person's bio. You wonder where Miss Rossum went? Try Columbia University! She was a college student around 2004-2008. Personally, I applaud young actors who still understand and appreciate the value of education and take time off from the entertainment racket and go off to college. Many, many actors have done this.

Yeah I also wonder sometimes, I had a huge crush on her when Day after tomorrow came out but she seems to disappear afterwards and as much as I would love to blame Dragon ball film, it just isn't. She has disappeared for a long time before DB. I am happy she is back with Shameless though, I might have to start watching to see the gorgeous women I adore few years ago.

She's gone on record saying she would prefer a classy career of longevity to one that just takda0es up any crappy role available.
A 4 year break is nothing if you're planning to act until your 60s. She's got classic good looks, an awesome voice, and true star power. She'll be back when she's ready.
Besides, she's a freaking genius. She got her high school diploma at age 15. It stands to reason she might very well value intellect and learning over acting. -

But she's currently giving the performance of her life (thus far) on Shameless, and the cast/crew seem to have an excellent relationship with her.
Plus it looks like she'll be shooting another film during the hiatus:

Careers, especially in Hollywood, have highs and lows. It was a low 1-2 years ago and now it's looking up for her. -

Her movies bombed. She wasn't leading lady material and if you keep producing bombs. Nobody will keep putting you in leading roles.

mystic river and the day after tomorrow didnt bomb. This tv show seems to be whats gonna get her in films again.
Both were years ago. I think POSEIDON bombed. Then apparently three years of not acting jobs later she did DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION and some film called DARE. Both of which probably also hurt her career.

Poseidon did ok
Dragon looked stupid but was apparently huge in Asia
Dare was a good movie actually it's on Netflix or at least was.
Shameless is hugely popular
Never saw DARE or SHAMELESS. Don't think I've ever seen it on TV.
And the DRAGONBALL anime and manga is popular in Asia. But DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION wasn't successful enough here in North America.

I kinda feel like any role Anne Hathaway has should have gone to Emmy. Well only one really. And that's: the role of Fantine in Les Miserables. Good for at least having steady job as of now. And I hope she makes another album because I really enjoyed her last one.
I hope you like feminist rants bec16d0ause that's kind of my thing.
