Like the title says I just became aware of the fact that Will Ferrell won the honorary MTV-movie award "comedic genius"; an act which, to me, expresses EVERYTHING that is wrong with MTV, and indubitably confirms that the world of quality comedy and humor has hit rock bottom How anyone can find this guy talented is beyond me

@ thepartydjz Ouch! So, even if I am as unimpressed by Farrell as you are, my being an American warrants your disrespect? I hope not but here is my tongue and cheek response, meanie!
You seem to hold your artistic preferences in high regard. Your likes and dislikes must transcend mere opinion or feeling to transform your personal interpretation into unyielding law by which all of humanity must either abide or be held accountable. I used to believe that there was no accounting for taste, but in your presence or in the presence of a divine being rather, the exception to the rule has been revealed to be, at the very least, some kind of demigod. As an American, I now have some inkling as to how insignificant I must be. Conversely, since you have enlightened me with nothing more than your contempt for my existence, the astronomical magnitude of your own significance must subsist well beyond the pitiful limitation111cs of my ability to comprehend. -

Who exactly would you say is funny than? The man can be a complete idiot in a movie and play it off in such funny ways! There isn't just one type of funny and not everyone has (what seems) your boring sense of humor.

Watch Arrested Development for a brilliant example of top quality humor for anyone with more than half a brain
Will Ferrell would blend in much better with some paint on his face, some oversized shoes, and a red nose wallowing around a circus ring to the amusement of preadolescent spectators.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that everyone should have the same sense of humor I do, I just believe that those who find Will Ferrell funny haven't experienced a wide enough variety of humor yet to actually develop a justified opinion. -

I didn't find arrested development overly funny. (Jason Bateman made it) It had its moments (just like will Ferrells movies ) but nothing to go ranting about. That's your opinion. Just like its my opinion to say u don't really have much of a sense of humor. You also seem to think only YOU know what funny is. No one else does huh? Hmm oddly enough I don't care what ur opinion is about me5b4. I can laugh it off. Cause it'll be funny. :)~

I feel the fact that these are my opinions is rather self evident without me having to include a phrase with the words "in my opinion";) With that said, I never claimed to be an oracle of humor, and even made it clear I don't believe everyone should have the same humor as I do, I simply hypothesize that anyone who find Will Ferrell funny would benefit from experiencing a wider variety of humor and in so doing would probably develop a different view. Certainly there are more than one type of quality humor, not all of which I myself find funny, yet they are not dumbed down like Ferrell's material. As for an opinion about you, I have none, as I have no knowledge of you other that what I can discern from these boards. However, I find it rather amusing that no more than ten days ago you yourself made a remarkably similar evaluation regarding the artist Selena Gomez

@thepartydjz Chapelle, YES. Rock, has made me laugh a couple of times. Farrell, has made me laugh a couple of times.
I thought you should know so that you could exemplify the appropriate amount of self righteous condescension

In a country where a zero talent like Will Ferrell is a superstar you should be ashamed to even mention you're an american. Yes I have standards, and they are obviously quite higher than yours, enjoy lying in pig slop.

I got nothing against Will, but to be honouring him with a comedic genius award shows there is something wrong with our society. I have to admit, Will has made me laugh before, but lately not in his movies.
I do have to say looking upon Will's career, the best bits he's ever done in my opinion, was when he was in SNL. But just recently I saw his cameo on the Internship (yet alone, the movie was absolutely awful), and I never giggled, never smiled, never even said HA to his character.
