WHAT WAS WHALEY'S BEST? by Dane Youssef
Well, Whaley knows his range better than anyone and as producer, has put together ideal showcase vehicles for himself:"Swimming With Sharks" and "Homage."
Similar characters, similar role, similar movies. He also was the traditional earnest young underdog lead in "Career Opportunties," which was believed to be his official breakthrough in Hollywood.
Like "The Jimmy Show." He also seems all-too well-cast as those naive, wide-eyed, youthful doomed punks who are in over their head and inevidably bite the dust. Bit expandable characters who are killed off because they are in over their head.- "Pulp Fiction"
- "Hannibal"
- "Born of the Fourth of July"
- "Swing Kids"
- "When Trumpets Fade"
- "A Midnight Clear"
The roles little Frankie was apparently born to play.

Agreed, Swimming With Sharks was his best. And he actually made a great character out of his role in Vacancy. And The Jimmy Show. And Pulp Fiction. I could go on and on
Oh please go on and on.
He didn't hit my radar until Vacancy. I had no idea there was somebody of his caliber out there in B- moviedom. He kicks ass in Vacancy, best actor on that movie, bar none. I've been watching sheer dreck just because he's in it. So sad.
Anyway, I've just Netflixed your recommendations and will have a Whaley-fest next week. -

His guest shot on the State! "Weee didn't staht the fire!.Had nuthin to do with it!"
I don't even know what the "State" is, a tv series?
I just watched the Jimmy Show. Loved it and him. He
is
a subtle actor, like when he discovered his grandmother just killer. Said so much without even a word.
It is certainly a terrific role then again, he wrote it for himself. -

"The State" was a sketch comedy show on MTV from 1994-95, from mostly the same people behind Reno 911, Stella and Wet Hot American Summer. Frank had a walk-on of about 10 seconds for which he is not credited on IMDB. And it ruled.

Damn, I wish I could have seen that. -

I haven't seen all his clips but the role (albiet small) in Pulp Fiction is classic!
"Jules: What country are you from?
b68 Brett: What? What? Wh - ?
Jules: "What" ain't no country I've ever heard of. They speak English
in What?
Brett: What?
Jules: English, beep do you speak it?"
So much is said in that simple stutter and expression. -

Career Opportunities, because that's the one I loved as a kid.
What's the one where he is a detective or something like that? I never saw the movie but remember seeing the trailer and wanting to see it.
"Congratulations, you're going to go down in history as the man who killed Superman."
