What about Dennis Hopper, William Holden, Richard Dreyfuss or John Cassavetes? All immensley important and rewarding actors who all struggled succesfully or unsuccesfully with substance abuse and look at their body of work. Losers? Hardly. Moral failures, probably.

The thing is none of the actors you mentioned ever dropped to the depths that Sizemore has managed to go to.
The bitter fact is no major producer wants to risk casting Sizemore in a big budget film and then have him get arrested or Overdose in the middle of filming.
And Sizemore's drug use will impact his on screen work considerings how big a slave he is to drugs. -

Your argument is subjective. None of those actors have fallen as hard as Sizemore? Poor Bill Holden died drunk crushing his head on a table and bleeding to death. Cassavetes died of sorossis. Dreyfuss was in a near fatal car crash that he admits to not remebering. He also does not remember filming an eighties film with Cassavetes. Hopper luckily has sobered up. I guess because none of these men have had the legal troubles as Sizemore they don't measure up then?

This guy used to be a great actor, but now he's washed up. He's going back to jail for violation of his parole.
Once a meth addict, always a meth addict. I've seen it too many times and the odds of him recovering are very, very slim. -

I'd like to point out that both Dennis Hopper and Richard Dreyfuss got sober and stayed sober for decades. They both spoke at AA meetings many times thru the years and tried to give back some wisdom to other addicts. I would hardly call either of them moral failures.
William Holden, however, died a drunk in fact hit his head on a table in a drunken fall which caused his passing. I personally love John Cassavetes' work, but he also never got his act together as far as getting sober. It's not up for me to judge their failures in that arena as they both left behind some great performances.
Tom Sizemore? Maybe his addiction issues seem uglier because of the vast access the public has nowadays due to the proliferation of social media and internet. In the olden days I saw JohnC drunk in bars and restaurants in LA [with Gena Rowlands of course] on many occasions, but we did not have TMZ or Access Hollywood to blast videos of sh&^faced celebrities at us on TV and internet 24-7. Their drunken foibles were more private and on the down low unless they got a DUI which usually PR people tried to hush up if it could be done. -
