I think its pretty obvious. She didnt have that many lines on season 1, so the network droped her. Her charecter was pretty useless. The show didnt really need her.

as i understand it, the show kind of went in a different direction than it was originally intended. The original idea of the show, as presented by Deborah Joy Levine, was a more adult oriented show about the Daily Planet. Superman would have been down played more and the show would have been more in the vain of a serialized night-time drama. They intended for the show to have a 10pm time slot. Cat Grant would have been more of a rival of Lois' both professionally and in regards to Clark. The network obviously changed their minds about what they wanted, and the show got a 8pm slot, with more humor, self contained (more or less) episodes, and the role of Cat was made into a smaller comic relief role, and some say at some point someone decided her character was too suggestive for an 8pm family show. So I guess Scoggins left cause, that isn't what she signed up for, or the network let her go, cause they went in a different direction.

This is a reply to an old post but maybe someone will read it..
I was at the Metropolis, IL Superman Festival about 10 years ago and they had several of the cast of "Lois And Clark" there as guests. Lane Smith (Perry White) and Justin Whalen (Jimmy Olsen) both said that it was Teri Hatcher who got Traci removed from the show for the second season. Cat was writtena as a rival to Lois, but Teri didn't want to lose screen time to another woman. Teri went to the producers of the show and demanded that Traci be dropped from the show. The show was titled "Lois And Clark" not "Cat and Clark" and eventually the producers gave in and dropped Cat in the second season to make Teri happy. Smith went on to say Teri was horrible to work with, was very tempermental, and unprofessional. He said Teri was always late, was often unprepared, and would fly off the handle at a moments notice. He had several stories of her temper tantrums on the set. Hope this helps.

I believe it. Teri Hatcher always struck me as a crazy diva. Too bad though, I missed Tracy after she left

Cat was barely in the show. I'm not buying this story. Teri Hatcher would have had no clout to demand someone get dropped from the show.
