Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eva Marie Saint

    PinkIcicle — 16 years ago(January 19, 2010 04:25 PM)

Has anyone else seen Eva in this movie that is not as well known? I saw it last night on TCM for the first timeheavy moviereminded me a lot of THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM with Frank Sinatra.
As usual, Eva was great in it. This month, TCM is showing movies with actors who attended The Actors' Studio. Eva is one of those actors, as well as Don Murray, Tony Francioso, and Lloyd Nolan, who were also in the movie.
Any other comments from those of you who've also seen it?

I saw Hatful of Rain in the movies when I was a child around 10 years old. I always went to grownup movies with my parents when I was little, and absorbed most of the content pretty well for being so young. I really loved it, and thought it was very dramatic, which it was, of course, but even more so for a child.
I've seen it since, and think the performances are really good. It's still gritty, but seems more tame to me now in this day and age.
Did you know it was remade for TV in the late sixties with Michael Parks and (I think) Sandy Dennis? It was pretty good, I was a huge Michael Parks fan back then. I don't think it's been shown since.

I taped it too and before that I had never heard of it
it reminded me of another movie called "Let No Man Write My Epitaph" 1960 with James Darren, Shelley Winters, Ricardo Montalban and Burl Ives

She should have been nominated for A HATFUL OF RAIN.
