Zriter59 I've never found GR to be more than an OK actress, and am puzzled by those who praise her to the skies. Her acting has always been unsubtle at best, obvious at worst, and (between those extremes) occasionally OK.
Actors/actresses with little talent but substantial personal appeal can go a long way. Rowlands isn't one of them. She wasn't unattractive during her youth, many years ago; but she got old fast. Look at "Gloria," in which she was only 50, yet looked at least 10 years older. And she has never had any charm.
While we're more or less on the same subject, I have never understood all the hype about the films GR's husband directed, and cannot fathom those who believe they are masterpieces. JC was quite a good actor (much better than his spouse), but he had no discernible talent for directing.
