This is one of the sexiest, most genetically perfect men in hollywood and they write him up as having "Average guy good looks"??

There's nothing average about him. He's been breathtakingly gorgeous from head to toe since I first saw him in 48 hours, and his acting was/is also stellar.
Average shmaverage. phhhh. -

Tobey Maguire is "average".
James is in the "silver fox" category, along with Mark Harmon (at least in my book).
Hehthat's another match-up I'd like to seeJames versus Mark (bad guy on NCIS, anyone?) That would be right after my primary dream match-up of James versus Jack Coleman (the villain that might finally kick HRG's butt! YEAH!)

Sadly, "character actors" just aren't likely to get leading roles, however much we'd like to see them kicking ass and sweeping the leading lady into their arms.Who needs Jack Sparrow?

I wouldn't say he is an average guy, but people probably categorize him like that because he is not classically handsome like Cary Grant or George Clooney, and he definitely isn't "pretty." He's more "brutally handsome" which is likely why he is often cast as a villain or tough guy.

I am watching him in the movie, The Survivors' Club and he is one of the best looking men around. I remember him from the movie, 48 Hours and even though he played a bad guy, I thought he was great looking. He is talented , great looking , and a really good actor. After all, he has been constantly working for years. He played Samanth's boyfriend in Sex in the City. Love him !

even as a guy its clear hes got t111che handsome rugged good looks, sorta like Harrison ford. clearly attractive, but manly and rugged, not some lameass prettyboy that Hollywood seems to love today. this guy, there is no mistaking hes a man.

the funny thing is when he was younger, like in the warriors I would say he was close to being a pretty boy. he got older, he got more rugged and manly.

My new favorite "villain actor" is Greg Hicks from the Royal Shakespeare Company. He does a fab villain (and is nicely yummy, too), but I find myself missing Jamie's sexy growl.Who needs Jack Sparrow?
