Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — George Reeves

In so seeing George Reeves as Superman and nothing else that he ended up in such a despondent state in which he could see no other way out?

I believe he was murdered. Except for some drinking, most people that knew him at the time found him to be honest and well intentioned behind the scenes, too. The women in his life were jealous and had powerful connections who wouldn't mind rubbing him out.

If Reeves killed himself because he was despondent over his career and being typecast, the fault of his death ultimately lies a mental disorder. No one or no one thing can "push" someone into such a thing. The resolve has to exist within that person alone.
And Reeves' "official" cause of death is highly suspect. The investigation (using that word loosely) was slapshod at best. I'm generally not one to believe in conspiracy theories but Reeves' entire death is fishy. Most people who shoot themselves don't fire multiple rounds into the floor and walls before shooting themselves. The lack of fingerprints on the gun is also, to put it mildly, odd.
