My husband introduced me to 'The Adventures of Superman' a few years ago - in fact we watched every episode in order - and I became a huge fan of the series, and especially of George. I had seen him in several of his movie roles before and always liked him. A really good actor, great looking, and by all accounts a genuinely nice person. After seeing his guest appearance in "I Love Lucy", he certainly had a good sense of humour as well. He also made a wonderfully wicked and charming baddie in "Jungle Jim".
It is so sad that this handsome, talented actor and director did not live to see how enduringly popular he has become.
Thank you George for giving us so much pleasure. -

Thanks for that,
MrsSuperman
.
As youngster I read the
Superman
line of comic books and also looked forward to every televised episode of
the Adventures of Superman
. Each show was the subject of every lunchtime conversion in grade school.
In the 70's the promos for
Superman - the Movie
(1978) crowed "
You'll Believe a Man Can Fly!"
and those flight scenes were pretty good, but for me, long before, I believed there WAS a
Superman
because of
George Reeves
classic portrayal.

And, yes, we were shocked to see those headlines and a pall fell over the schoolyard thereafter. Sure, there were tough guys that laughed and said he was a fake, but we knew it was a TV show, but Reeves made us believe it all.
Superman
, in my opinion, has been dragged down since George's take on
Superman
.
Thanks, again,
MrsSuperman
. Your appreciation means a lot.
