Exactly. I had a friend who knew him very well. One year he couldn't make the anniversary party for Fantasticks and Jerry asked where he was and said, "Tell him I said I was sorry he didn't come." He also complemented my friend's mother. The person is just kidding with us.

I don't believe you. Jerry wasn't that sort of person. I am going to tell this story to a friend of mine who knew him and I'll bet he'll call you a liar. As a matter of fact, reading your story again, he did thank you so what do you want? Oh, I know, a tip. Why? You don't make enough dough? I can't understand the whole tipping policy anyway.

Did you ever think that your attitude may have been too obvious and that's why you didn't get a tip? Jerry didn't owe you a dime but you still seem to think he did. I did deliveries in NYC for thirty years and got to know him. He treated me like I was his best friend, that is with class, and that's not only because that's the way I treated him, that was the man he was. He was one of the most down to earth people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He was a real person, many of his real qualities came through in the parts he played. L&O was often on location on the west side, he even lived in the neighborhood. It's a shame he isn't with us anymore.
