Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jerry Orbach

I just read another thread on here from someone saying that Jerry should have won an emmy or golden globe as some point for his work on Law & order and I completely disagree. Yes, he was a talented actor and although he played a very important and beloved character on a very popular show, that doesn't mean that he deserved any award for that, and especially since I don't think any of his acting on the show as very spectacular. He played the role well but, the actors who did win those awards instead of Jerry totally deserved it also, if not more.
It also reminded me of the first SAG award ceremony following his death. In the category of best Lead Actor in a drada0ma series, he was not only nominated for the very first time in that category but, he also won and it was also a tie with Kiefer Sutherland. Are we really supposed to be believe that after more than a decade on the show, his work suddenly granted him a nomination and a win for the first time? That's ridiculous, and the people who run that ceremony knew that as well which is why they decided to make his win a tie with another nominee because they knew that giving it to Jerry would have been unfair. It's so glaringly obvious that there wasn't a tie. Kiefer was the real winner and they only made it a tie on order to honor Jerry's memory and I don't think that's okay.
