What happened to him?

He was a leading character in Birdcage and Mouse Hunt in 1996 and 1997. Both movies were big successes that grossed more than 100 million worldwide and earned their budgets back many times over. He seamed to be at the height of his career. And since then nothing. He did that pilot for Encore Encore. And then he pretty much vanished, except for bit parts and cameos here and there.
Anybody knows what happened to him?

He's been killing it on Broadway for a long, long time. He does movies occasionally, but he spends most of his time on stage.

I just love him - he is so talented. I saw him in "Guys and Dolls" on Broadway and he was perfect.
He also has the recurring role of Pepper Saltzman on "Modern Family" - he plays a friend of Mitchell and Cam and he is terrific.
