He is funny, always ready with that one liner that hits the spot. I watched by accident a TV show where I believe that it was a school play or something and they were acting "The Wizard of OZ". Debra Winger played the good witch and of course he played the cowardly lion. He brought the house down with his wonderful voice sounding better than the original Bert Lahr, who to be fair, was not a singer. At the end of that play, he came on the stage and sang songs made by Danny Kaye in his earlier films"Up In Arms" and one could close their eyes and thing Danny Kaye was singing. I wish that I could get a copy of that show. I see its not listed among the list of his achievements. How did IMDB missed that? Also another TV series he appeared in with Joan Plowright? Don't know if that is the way her name is spelledshe was Laurence Oliver's wife. He was suppose to be an opera singer and they were in the business of making winevery funny, but short lived. I now watch "The Good Wife", but don't care for the role they gave himtoo serious.

He is funny and a captivating talented comic actorliked him ever since I caught a TV film he was in called "The Boys Next Door"-to me, his style of acting is like a throwback to actors of the '40's, with the quick comic timing, major light-hearted charisma and everythingjust refreshingly straight-up old-school. I just saw him in a play on PBS a couple of weeks ago called "The Nance" (set in the '40's, I believe) which was about closeted gay actors on Broadwaywas just channel-surfing and stopped to watch it only because Lane was in it, and it turned out to be pretty goodhe does drag routines and sings in itdon't know why it's not listed on IMDB,though, since it's pretty recent.
