He's from Jersey ("Joisey"), so he's got that with a bit of "New Yoik" attitude going for him. When you're from New York City or New Jersey or Connecticut or anywhere near by, you may have a bit of that sound which can bring on assumptions. I've met Jewish people that acted more "goy" than goys and non-Jewish people that had some stereotypical Jewish qualities. The important thing is that he's very talented so like Norma Desmond, he can play any role. I used to joke that he'd replace Harvey Fierstein in "Fiddler on the Roof", and today, somebody on Playbill suggested that he play Edna Turnblad in "Hairspray".
He said, "I'm really an honorary Jew, you know; all the best people are. I really do feel Jewish, even though I'm a Catholic. The way the Church has been behaving, I'm happy to be Jewish." I feel the same way. I'm one of the few "Goy's" who works for a Jewish firm, and they have made me honorary Jewish, too. It's an instant feeling of family.
"Great theater makes you smile. Outstanding theater may make you weep."
