I just came from the 30th Anniversary screening of Brian De Palma's THE FURY at the Walter Reade Theatre in NY's Lincoln Center and it was great. They showed a restored print of the film and both Amy Irving and William Finney who had roles in the film, were present in person for the screening and stayed at the end for a Q&A session in which they answered questions from the audience. I got to meet and talk with both Ms. Irving and Mr. Finney at the screening and they were both very gracious & friendly to me and they signed autographs for me and posed for pictures.

Well, Ms. Irving was very nice, gracious and cordial. She came with all her family at the screening(her boyfriend Kenneth Browser and her sons, Gabriel and Max were with her at the screening)Her sons even asked her interesting questions about THE FURY at the Q&A after the screening. Ms. Irving even admitted at the Q&A session after the screening that it was the first time that she has seen THE FURY since it's premiere back in 1978 and she liked it better the second time. Ms. Irving has a new film called ADAM that is currently in post production that is written & directed by Max Meyer and stars Rose Byrne, Hugh Dancy and Peter Gallagher.

Ms. Irving told various interesting anecdotes about the making of THE FURY, such as that when she was making the film, she went to a real paranormal psychic research institute to familiarize herself with those who have psychic abilities in order to do her role in the film. She also received a real slap from Kirk Douglas in The Fury in the scene where her character wants to stubbornly go with Mr. Douglas to find his missing son, but since that particular scene was shot 25 times, Ms Irving received 25 real slaps from Mr. Douglas, who afterwards was very apologetic to her and sent her roses. Finally in the scene towards the end of the film when Ms. Irving & Mr. Douglas are captured by the bad guys with their watchdogs at the villain's estate, Ms. Irving was really attacked and bitten by the watchdogs in the film, that Mr De Palma, the director had to suddenly stop shooting and get the dogs off of her and the dog attack scene does appear in the film. All in all, it was a great evening at the movies.
