Hopefully, some of you can fill in the blanks for me or at least validate my question..I've seen three movies that starred Van Heflin and Barbara Stanwyck. Her husband (at one time) Vincente Minelli directed Van Heflin in another movie. I can't find anything that mentions whether Van and Barbara were good friends. Doesn't it seem like they would have been?
I know that people who create great things together don't necessarily like each other personally, but it just seems like the bios of each of these two, make them out to be really nice, intelligent people who would have probably been friends.
Any thoughts or info on this?

I know this is trivial stuff compared to what other people probably think about, (Pollution, Deforestation, Global Warming, World Hunger, etc) but this is how my mind works

Hey, I am very passionate about all of the above - AND animal rights!
It doesn't mean that I don't enjoy watching Babs and Van
Or that I am not a shallow person - I am, very much so!
Anyway, I wanted to report that I haven't found anything yet - but I'll keep looking!

Funny you should ask since I've wondered this myself. I think they were each other's best costars and had such genuine chemistry in all three films they did together that I've wondered if this was a reflection of real-life. The only story I've heard to suggest that they were friends was that she played a practical joke on him during the filming of BF's Daughter - right before a scene where Van had to carry her, she wrapped chains around herself underneath her coat, so that when filming began, he couldn't lift her. And since she wasn't known to be a mean or obnoxious person, my guess is that she'd only have played the joke on him if he was her friend or knew that he could take it.

I'm just sorry they didn't make more films together -

I was wondering that myself. I remember Robert Osborn telling a story about how Stanwyck didn't want Heflin to do his coin trick in "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" when they were in scenes together, because she thought the audience would watch him instead of her.
