Hi. Thanks for your response. Jim Garner was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame, and was given the Screen Actors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. We feel he is deserving of a lifetime achievement Oscar, as was given to Cary Grant. Cary Grant never received an Oscar, but was given a special lifetime achievement one. This is what Jim Garner also deserves.

I respect your opinion, but could not disagree more. Jim was nominated for an Oscar for Murphy's Romance. Cary Grb68ant was never voted an Oscar, and thus was given a Lifetime Achievement Academy Award. This is what we want for Jim. He did change the face of motion pictures. It is his performances in his films that matter. He elevated every movie he was ever in. John Wayne called Jim our greatest American actor. I agree the Oscars are political. The greatest irony is Jim does not care about awards. He lets his work speak for itself. We think he deserves recognition from AMPAS. This is totally a grassroots effort to make the Academy at least sit up and take notice. We have no illusions and are realistic about Jim's chances. Of course they are not going to listen to a petition, but it might make the Board of Governors rethink the impact Jim has made in films. We are talking about a lifetime of wonderful performances in film. Mira Sorvino has an Oscar, but Jim and so many others including the great Edward G. Robinson do not. I have nothing against Ms. Sorvino. She won an Oscar for one film. I cannot think of anyone who is more deserving of this Lifetime recognition by the Academy. Jim was and is the "King of Expressions". Just for the record, if you asked the great actors of today their opinion of Jim's impact on the face of motion pictures they would certainly feel Jim deserves and has earned this recognition.
