I never got her 'beauty' at all(Jean Harlow's either, and I think that they had similar facial features.).
I consider both of them Purina Dog Chow mouths. They are both very homely, in my own opinion. Most people with whom i discuss movies feel the same way. -

Greta Garbo has unconventional looks by hollywood standard apparently and she had an amazing make up artist but if you look at old pictures from the time she was a child she was your typical Swedish girl. Very scandinavian but what models are most likely these days.

What a face! Dream or reality? Either one. Because we are capable to see it a n d to feel it simultaneously. T.S. Eliot wrote: Poetry is communicated before it is understood.
That's consistant with my conviction. You can't explain Garbo's beauty. But you can feel it. Perception with eyes a n d heart. It is projecting our own desires. Because we do place our own emotions in that face, all possible dreams In that immortal face -

She has a very photogenic face, and some people find her attractive. I thought her a nice looking person, but I never thought of her as a great beauty beyond her ability to act.
She photographed well, could act, and people liked that. -

Thanks for letting us know about your contrary opinion.
Do you leave posts like this for every message board for actors and actresses if you don't get their appeal?
Or does it just seem like it?

Yes I felt that way for most of my natural born life, from what gathered from still shots, very homely, plain unattractive and uninspiring. I was too smitten with Vivien Leigh and Hedy Lamarr to be bothered. Until one day I actually got the chance to see Greta Garbo on screen..it was The Grande Hotel, which I only watched for Joan Crawford naturally, until Greta came on screen, a girl I never gave a seconds thought too, but when I watched her on screen I would say within 10 seconds I was madly hopelessly in love. After Ninotchka I was obsessed. Watching Greta on screen I find her so endearing and impossible to let go, I just want to eat her up.

I'm swedish, and we grow up hearing about Garbo and i didn't really get her greatness untill i saw my first movie with her (Ninotchka). Sure she was pretty, but on the screen she was magnetic, you could not look away from her. I feel alot of the older movie star had that charm, especially the silent era movie stars, they needed to draw people to the cinemas with nothing but their charisma, and they did. Tons of respect for Garbo and guys like Keaton and Chaplin.

Just because you have the right to open your mouth and bash people for their looks, or acting ability, doesn't mean that you must do so.
Humans come in all shapes and sizes, whether you like it or not.
If you can't deal with that, then go hang around people, and talk about people, who you think are NOT "HOMELY" or "Purina Dog Chow mouths", and leave those that ARE "HOMELY", alone!
If you can't leave people alone, who are not as "PERFECT" as you then do the world a favor, and seek psychiatric help! And take those "people" who feel the same way, you do, with you. Maybe getting some professional help can teach you the meaning of "
Do Unto Others, As You Would Have Them Do Unto You.
" and why "
If You Don't Have Anything Nice To Say, Then Don't Say Anything At All.
" is so important. The world might be a better place if people like you would learn these concepts and follow them. -
