Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Adam Sandler

People go on like he's as much of a flop as Kevin Hart or something, okay so Jack and Jill was possibly the worst film ever made. Although he has made alot of classics, Little Nicky, Mr Deeds, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Bulletproof, and the list goes on, they all hit certain strange funny notes that other comedys can't seem to reach, and he's proved his worth as a serious actor too in films like Reign on Me and Punch Drunk Love. People need to stop putting Sandler down, we all know he made your childhood alot funnier dont act like he never

      Punch Drunk Love.
If you can hold your own against the late-great Phillip Seymour Hoffman, you're a very good actor.

I should maybe watch this, due to the fact that it's directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Yeah, a really childish and simple humour. I would rather watch a smart comedy like My Cousin Vinny or The Big Short which are not only funnier, but also well structured movie. You have all the right in the world to like an actor, but don't be surprised that some people are just looking for a smarter kind of humour. Plus, Kevin Hart acting wise is on the same level as Sandler but he is actually way funnier.
