Although not as popular as many actors of his generation,
Ben Gazzara
will be remembered for his extraordinary magnetism exuded by a Mediterranean macho charisma, a suave voice and what I consider the most perfect diction from any actor
Ben Gazzara
will also be forever associated with the actor/director genius John Cassavetes and the irresistible goofy trio they made with Peter Falk in
Husbands
, an underrated masterpiece whose emotional core relied on the tormented heart of Ben's character.
And talk about an actor who's been unfairly snubbed by the Oscars and even the Golden Globes, to those who don't know him very well, I highly recommend
The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
, the film he delivers what I believe is his best lead performance, on an oscar worthy level
R.I.P Signor Gazzara
and I hope you're having a few drinks and a great time with your buddies John and Peter now, messing around in whatever is waiting for us up there .
Sad day for cinema
