So I was reading an article on CNN that a new FB group is being formed. The goal for this group is to have Carol host SNL. Just thought I'd bring the topic here and see what people thought about it. Personally I never had thought about it but it seems like it'd be a helluva show! Her sketch comedy show is still well remembered 30+ years after having gone off the air. So what do yall think about the idea??

Amen, I totally agree!!! They could learn a lot from this legend of laughter. When God made Carol Burnett, he broke the mold!

It would be fitting for Burnett to do SNL because I have always believed that a lot of her sketches were on the level of the best of SNL. Bear in mind that her show ran 11 years and God only knows how many sketches there were but I can remember a number of them that were so good they were brilliant. The best one is where Burnett plays a wife whose husband has been kidnapped. She's being interviewed by Korman and the skit goes from seemingly serious to over-the-top histrionics as Burnett is required to do her interview repeatedly.

There's an interview on You Tube where Burnett said she'd host SNL if asked; but I think she was either just being nice or trying to avoid controversy.
It's pretty well known Lorne Michaels is not a fan of Carol Burnett's brand of sketch comedy. When SNL was in its early years he'd use the phrase "too Burnett" to describe skits that he thought were too hack-ish. -

Exactly candrew088. I don't think Carol Burnett hosting SNL will ever happen. Especially now that she's gotten on in years. I've also heard her say in an interview when asked about hosting SNL she made a comment like "well if it's good". Comments like that don't endear her to the show.
