I think so. I know some would disagree he's a great director though, unfortunately.
He has a distinct frantic and kinetic style used in all of his films that is very different from newer directors using shaky cam exclusively to create suspense and thrills.
Danny Boyle has a very fluid style that moves head to toe, vice versa. Regardless of a weak script, his direction shows that he cares about his characters. So when he builds up a scene and carries it, he starts from the ground up. He encompasses the universe he created rather than just drive a scene or character alone.
Director with a distinct style? Absolutely. One of the best and most stylish directors working today? Absolutely. Does he primarily work with beep scripts? Mostly. That is what hinders his films. Script.
