She was married to him for SO long! Especially by Hollywood standards.
Did they just grow apart? Anyone know??

But wasn't he always a celebrity bad boy? His drinking can't be a new thing, can it? I mean Valerie Bertinelli had to "go" for the bad boy rocker type, as she married one!
Maybe his drinking got worse? Or she used to party with him but got sober perhaps?

He's not just a heavy drinker. He's a degenerate alcoholic. This is coming from a huge Eddie fan. His drinking is so bad that at times he has been unable to play because of how much damage he caused to his body. He needs a hip replacement because of it.
He was always a drunk, but of course it got worse at time went on. And she was a cokehead right along with him. But as one gets older, one loses patience for the drunken stupors, the temper tantrums, and the philandering.
They were married a long time, but they have been on the rocks for ages and ages. She started talking abou tleaving him in the late 80's. They got separated finally in 2001. -

She said in her book "Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time" that two main reasons led to her divorce from Eddie. First, that her husband became addicted to cocaine. Second, was Eddie's continued smoking, despite losing one-third of his tongue and undergoing treatment for tongue cancer.
