Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Valerie Bertinelli

    purple32197 — 13 years ago(December 06, 2012 05:45 PM)

in case you all are wondering shes not the humble cute nicey girl you all think she is . she claims she loves mackenzie, but all the time mack was on drugs valerie was never there for her. when mack needed her most.from macks book she says valerie hung up on her when she was in rehab, in jail, when she was down and out . dam.. if i was mackenzie i would beat her ass when i got out. also when mack got fired from one day at a time, val also was not here for her and kicked her when she was down, and never stuck up for her to the producers of the show. she turned a blind eye to what was going on, never helped mack one bit, you just care about yourself val and some of up know how you really are.if some of you dispute what im saying then watch val and mack on oprah show awhile back, she totally admits she was never there for mackenzie.dont be fooled by selfish val.

MacKenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli were co-workers. Bertinelli was and is not obligated to "be there" for MacKenzie. Do you bend over backwards to help out all of your co-workers? Do you "stick up" for a coked out co-worker to your boss? It's the same with actors - just because they pretend to be friends or family in a film or television show does not mean that's the relationship they have in real life.
I read MacKenzie Phillips' book and she said she didn't blame Bertinelli for cutting her out of her life because she was a mess. Considering Bertinelli was in her early 20s and dealing with her own life, I don't see her as the bad person here. She did what she did to salvage her own sanity and well being - she didn't do that at anyone's expense. She regrets it, apologized and both have seemingly moved on. You should too - especially since it doesn't affect you.

And this statement, says plenty about you.
val also was not here for her and kicked her when she was down, and never stuck up for her to the producers of the show.
Are you serious? Valerie was all of 21 or 22, when Mackenzie was fired. What "PULL" did Valerie have with the Producers of One Day at a Time?
Mackenzie, like her father was a dope fiend. Valerie, after marrying Eddie, also used drugs but was not obligated to help a former co-worker from a TV show, which she worked on in her teens.
I too, have known people (and these are good friends, whose judgment, I trust.) who have worked with Valerie, and 3 out of 4 of them, have basically said she's a bit of a Diva. But that doesn't mean I am going to automatically dismiss her as media figure or actr5b4ess.
Purple, if you don't care for Valerie, fine, you're entitled but your posts seem more like personal attacks, and the boards on IMDB aren't designed for such.

I don't understand why Valerie had to help a self-destructive drug user. It is obvious that Mackenzie didn't care about her own life so why should Valerie.

Plus Mackenzie put Valerie's job in jeopardy not once, but twice.

How on earth did Mackenzie's drug use or any of Mackenzie's actions put Valerie's job in jeopardy?
I'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense, what so ever.

Wasn't there for her? What about Phillips own family? Her dad may have very wel5b4l molested her. No one saw it, or were in denial if they did. And her family was pretty much a disaster.
By the time she met Bertinelli, much less got to know her, she was already beep in the head.
