It's not a matter of a petition, it's a matter of funding. Don Bellisario has had a script ready to go for a number of years, but nobody willing to invest the millions of dollars needed to get the production started. Scott said in the Nerd HQ talk that it would require $7mil. That was a few years ago, so it would be likely to be much more now. If you want to get it done with people power, start up a kick-starter campaign. But bear in mind that a friend of mine is trying to raise $20,000 to put together a new Leap-con, which was supposed to be for the 25th anniversary of Quantum Leap that was in March. She started it more than a year before and still only has about $4K.
Why not tell people you want to make a potato salad?

Yes because online petitions have such an amazing track record of success.
