Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Eric Stoltz

I loved Anaconda. To get this ensemble 5 star cast together now-a-days would take millions and millions of dollars- to see them all young, fresh, and new to the film industry in a 'lost world' genre film of man versus nature was great! I love those films done right, and Anaconda did it right; from the first shot of Danny Trejo being followed up the mast of his ship by the snake, where he chooses suicide of being eaten alive to Jon Voight with his Tony Montana impression as a failed priest turned snake hunter. Even Owen Wilson was a lovable dumbass in this film, actually felt bad for him when his character was eaten.
My question for Stoltz is; was it his intention to spend the entire movie in a semi-comatose state? I've been trying to find the script online for ages, there are two or three versions but I can't find them; only the screenwriters and places to possibly buy it. The one thing I missed was Stoltz, he never even got to SEE an Anaconda. I wonder if he knew that? I heard he was a character method actor, totally immersing into his character (the Tribe Hunter, Anthropologist), and I wonder if his character of Cale was expanded in any of the other script drafts?
Any answers or help would be great, thanks.
