It has to do with time period.
In American Movies in the late 70's, 80's and early 90's it was more common to see more casual full frontal male nudity. And It was never a big deal.
Nowadays the American Public explodes if you see a man's genitals on display. Which hardly ever happens as most movies are PG-13. Though I was surprised by Deadpool, even though He was covered in slime and make up. I wonder if that was a Stunt Man or Ryan.
