Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — John Sayles

I went to see "silver city" with a friend a couple months ago, and little did I know Mr. Sayles was attending for a chat afterwards. I was very impressed with the fact that he has a clear vision and political agenda, ventilating his views through the films he and others make come through with the help of money he earns from more commercial projects written by him. I like it, and I like the stuff he's written, not directed (I like them too).. He can do anything and I am grateful for him still making movies and i hope he will keep them coming years to come in the future.
We need more people like Sayles, not afraid to use their brains in a country like the US. It is important for people to make statements through their work..
Wish you all the best Mr. Sayles and also your partner in crime; Miss Maggie Renzi.
    Keep 'em comin':)

I don't take sleeping pills if I have trouble falling asleep, I just watch one of his movies.

And I bet your favourite character of all time is Jar Jar Binks, right?

i think Sayles has perhaps been getting a bit too political for his own good. It's no secret that Silver City was weak. Very, very weak.
Lone Star and Limbo are masterpieces perhaps because Sayles held off on laying down his political statements so overtly
