Though this topic is not John Sayles related it is a subject that is near and dear to John's heart, as well as many of us who are fans.
We must defeat George W. Bush this November.
Today I'm posting on every message board where folks who are sick of Bush's foreign and domestic policies may be. Saying that you want Bush gone isn't enough. We must act. Please visit

and volunteer. Even if you can only give a few hours between now and November, it will be well worth it.
If you are not registered to vote, please do so by visiting

. Not in my lifetime has there been such an important election. Your vote is crucial. Together, we can make a difference.
Thanks!

P.S. On a more personal note,b68 John Sayles is one of the greatest directors of our time. I adored Sunshine State and Eight Men Out. Actually, I've really enjoyed all of his films and I hope to be even half as good a director as he is. -

"John Kerry will ruin this country"
That was Bush's job.
"allow every social interest group"
You mean like the NRA? In any case, i'll take my chances
wi5b4th the interest groups than Bush and Cheney's multinational
corporate friends.
"you don't want another 9/11"
Funny, i think that happened under Bush's watch. If only he
had read the daily briefing "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in
US" which stated he wanted to hijack a US aircraft. Of course,
Bush might not be able to read.
"somebody that will fight for your freedom"
He had his chance to fight for freedom, and the coward declined
and went AWOL. Of course, so have most of his administration
and key advisors. They want others to fight and die, not for
our freedom, but so that they can make money. -

Thank you! Watching Dubya stumble about like a punch-drunk boxer these past 6 years has been a melancholy experience; a feeling that's been exacerbated by my country's leader, Tony Blair, sucking up to Dubya with a pornograhic zeal. I'm staggered that, not only has Dubya survived in office but that he's not in jail.
Apologists for the horrid bloke always push aside all critcism with the plea that Dubya's "strong" on terror, that The War Against Terror (T.W.A.T. to those who 'know what time it is') is somehow Dubya's 'strong suit'. I always scream something to the effect of RepoMan65's posting: "But 3,000 were murdered on his watch!!! How does that make Dubya the right person to make the country feel safe???".
Anyway, John Sayles is an amazing film-maker. When the grossly over-rated "Crash" won best picture, it did, at least, remind me that I haven't seen Sayles' "City Of Hope" for ages and I really should try to find a copy of that very fine film again.
