Raven's Corner: Help me identify this movie

During 1993 on South African pay channel M-Net I saw a pretty actress playing the part of a 'professional bikini beauty contestant' who drove around along the coast in what I would today identify as a little silver Suzuki Jeep, scouting for beauty contests she could enter and win. She had to sneak this past contest organizers, as her overexposure on the scene really made her an undesirable candidate. This character then became a witness to a murder.
I don't remember much of t1c84he story, much less the name of the movie, and there lies my problem. Wanna see that pretty actress again. The name of this actress as it is filed in my memory is Kelly Preston, but research on plot synopsis at Wikipedia and IMDb doesn't show any movie qualifying to be this.
Could I have made a mistake? Was it some other Kelly? No, not Kelly Lynch either, same result there.
If anybody out there can throw some light on this subject
