I'm oblivious to all the hate.
Is there anything concrete that he did/said that's not rumor?
Someone please inform me or give me the link to another thread this is on!
Thanks! -

I guess you can call me a "hater" because I dislike him.
As an actor he is top-notch. As a person, I find him scummy and abrasive. He has the typical "do as I say, not as I do" mentality and that bothers me. He has a socialist agenda (admires Chavez) and tends to be a glory hound anytime a natural disaster strikes. Don't believe me? How many people brought their own photographer to NOLA or Haiti? -

What have you read that says that he took his own cameraman to NOLA to document his humanitarian efforts during Katrina. PLease tell me what are your sources.
My sources on Sean Penn are interviews with the guy himself (per The Guardian and NYTimes - their archives are all on-line - please go to nytimes.com and guardian.co.uk and search for Sean Penn the articels are truly fantastic and unbiased), as well as his authorized biography "The life and times of Sean Penn" by Richard Kelly - I highly reccomend this book it is truly fantastic.
Also if you live in the states the biography channel made a documentarty about his life. In this documentary people from the Red Cross who were ACTUALLY THERE and WORKED WITH SEAN tell of his heroism and selfless nature during the Katrina tragedy. -

Hahaha, you just got pwned by Kobro22, how does it make you feel?
Good work kobro. I'm doing my best to be patient with people on the far right or people who like to throw around "hitler, communist, socialist, etc." all the time, and at everyone who has views different than theirs.
There was a recent study showing that people who watch Fox News are the most misinformed. I'm starting to be inclined to believe it. I've tried not to, but how can you not when you see people who are voting for politicians on policies that those politicians do not support? -

Hobo Joe, you are a moron. "There was a recent study" Are you kidding me? For every study, there is a conflicting study. An5b4d the media is stupidly liberal, so that is what you are going to hear. "I'm doing my best to be patient with people on the far right" Again, that is hilarious. It is us that have to be patient with you. Nobody likes Sean Penn because he is a liberal douche and hypocrite. Fox News is the only place that gets it right, and liberals are the most close-minded of them all. If someone disagrees with you, you play a race card, or some beep like that. Bleeding heart idiots. Keep believing what you hear from your studies. That is classic liberal.

"Moron, Liberal douche, hypocrite, idiots" So if someone disagrees with you, you resort to name calling. Classy. You just completely negated any point you were trying to make by describing a person(s) with the same insulting language that you say liberals use.

' Keep believing what you hear from your studies. That is classic liberal.'
HAH!
That is legitimately the dumbest thing I have ever read.
Studies also show that the earth revolves around the sun, but obviously that must be liberal propaganda.
I'm not entirely sure what point you were trying to make with that comment. That liberals prove things through studies, whereas you would be happy to believe whatever it is Fox bottle feeds you without any sort of back-up evidence? I'll assume not.
I'm not quite sure you accomplished what you had set out for with that comment. Nice try though, and thanks for the laugh!

Many of these so called studies are biased since they are created by the people funding such studies. Most often studies and polls quoted the most often are the most unreliable crap. I typically side with the left on a good number of things if that matters since what I am saying is typically a republican retort.
Just a small amount of research will show you most often these studies consisted of very few people or the circumstances were such that the outcome could only favor those who funded the study and want certain results. They are practically purchased statistics. Take the often quoted 40% of firearms purchased are from "backdoor" channels. That study was before the NFA, and the question given to the few hundred phoned in participants was phrased in such a way that asked for their opinion on something rather than the fact of their transaction. People just assume it's a national study with thousands of participants, even the president quoted this so called study, which is now almost 30 years old and had something like 290 participants. The specifics of the study should be mentioned in cases where they are used to make your point, and they often are. When they are not mentioned, be wary. -

"How many people brought their own photographer to NOLA or Haiti?"
What's wrong with a person wanting to show people the good things that they do? It doesn't make them any less passionate about doing good deeds.
Human being ain't only just human, you knowthey got animals living inside of em, too. U-Turn -

Like I said way before, the conservatives are the ones he mainly gets criticism/hate from, because he is so vocal about his politically liberal views, so they attack him.
But, that is NOT the only reason.
It is also that he is just so unfriendly to the public.
And it can seem hypocritical to be such a humanitarion and then be so rude to or even violently assault people for approaching you. I am reminded of a John Lennon lyric (where he was being critical of himself): "You say you're looking for a world of truth, the leader of a big ole band. You wanna save humanity, but it's people that you just can't stand."
As I stated before, I think Penn is a great actor, but he is a very unlikable guy in person, and not just because someone disagrees with his politics. I've personally seen him be very rude to people that admire him very much.
All the people completely defending him, if you actually ran into the guy in person, I'm telling you, he'd hurt your feelings quickly.
