I think she's something of a Civil War buff. Her favorite battles are:
Battle of Round Mountain November 19, 1861
Battle of the Mounds, June 2930, 1863
Battle of Pleasant Hill, April 12-13, 1864

She re-enacted the Battle of Droop Mountain (November 6, 1863), and she won once she was able to marshal support.

Don't know - never heard or read any of her opinions about the war.

More than likely her ancestors fought for the North, if they fought at all. The mountaineers of East Tennessee, like the citizens of the Virginia Counties that became West Virginia, didn't like the idea of leaving the Federal Union, so a lot of East Tennessee men left home and went North to join the Union Army.
