Did you see the updated autopsy results? A contributing factor to Hackman's death was actually starvation. Imagine relying on Betsy for so much and not having any other assistants to do regular check-ins, and she passes away, and for 7 days, he's not eating or drinking? What a horrible way to go, especially given how fragile he was.

It's so peculiar because us peons automatically assume these millionaire celebrities have servants and personal chefs and all sorts of personal assistants attending to their every whim. To see that there were rats in the house and it was dilapidated inside and that no one was checking in on them is sad. I understand families can break apart, so I get the kids being mad and wanting to cut ties, but you'd think Betsy would have made arrangements for some type of routine health check for Gene.
Watching her on video, shopping in the store the day before is just eerie. So many questions.

I think they were used to living alone together and managing OK until she became ill - it's not an uncommon story except for the fact he was so famous and (presumed to be?) wealthy. I'm a little curious to see how much money they actually had.

I've only heard that his stomach was empty (which doesn't necessarily mean that he starved) but he was not dehydrated.
