Trying to find out which film this could have been, google & ChatGPT don't know but perhaps someone here does. It was some old film or possibly a TV show, was in black and white, featured a scene where 2 knights in armor were sword fighting and the one decapitates the other, his head still in the knight's helmet rolls on the ground, when it stops the face plate flips up to reveal his face. I saw this randomly as a kid on TV one late night in the early 90s…it was quite frightening at that time, but for years and years I've wondered which film this was. Any ideas?

Doesn't look like it. This film/TV show must've been from the 50-60s from how it looked and it was in black and white. There was a scene in sword of the valiant involving 2 fully armor clad knights fighting in a field which is reminiscent of the scene in the film I'm thinking of but I distinctly remember that the one knight cut the other's head clean off his shoulders in the fight. Good effort though.

Unlikely that any classic B-&-W studio-era movie would show a decapitation this graphic.
It would have to be Roger Corman or later. From the '60s onward.
Any earlier than that, it just wasn't done. Faceplate swiveling up on a severed head rolling across the grass? No way. It wouldn't even have been implied.
