Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ben Affleck

    sul-uddin96 — 9 years ago(January 31, 2017 07:11 AM)

I feel like him turning away from Batman directing is a sign that he might quit altogether.
Let's face it, Affleck never needed the DCEU to begin with. By directing the Oscar winning 'Argo' and starring in the acclaimed 'Gone Girl' did he need to star and/or direct Batman?

I think his experience on BvS showed him how hokey and contrived big budget superhero films are.
The production is barely there, replaced with green screen.
Ben likes to transport his audience and not trick them with computer graphics.

Of course he wants out. There's no creative freedom in these mega franchises. He can't make the Batman movie he wants to, he can't be the Batman he wants to. Just stick out the Justice League movies, then let a new guy take over with the solo film. We're used to a new Batman every couple movies, nobody is gonna care.

I think the DCEU can survive without Affleck (although he is arguably their brightest light), but I may start to feel they don't deserve my support. I've stood by the DCEU through all the problems, but if Affleck bails completely I'll feel why did I bother when even their biggest name can't be bothered to ride it out.

sul-uddin96, got any lottery number picks for me? Is Trump going to last his full first term? And what happened to DB Cooper?
You nailed it, buddy. Nice prediction.

Robert Pattinson is Batman now, so yes, Ben quit the DCEU.

He didn't quit he was fired I think. I heard that DC was changing direction on characters anyway.

A bit of a shame because they had that tormented Robin outfit and I think Ben could have pulled off a darker Batman quite easily Blue.
I don't like how it ended with him, far too Saturday morning cartoon and not enough Dark Knight Returns for how he was portrayed by Ben.
