If Robin Wright wasn't Claire, Julianne Moore would be my pick.

Kevin Spacey would so overshadow her, she's not a powerful presence on screen. Spacey is awesome, and can play so many diverse characters. She doesn't have that range, at all.

Even if Claire wasn't played by Robin Wright, it would be a mistake to cast Julianne. She belongs in movies, as one of the most successful actresses her age.
