Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Morgan Freeman

    watsonfmly — 13 years ago(March 23, 2013 10:47 PM)

He first had good words to say about racism
During a 2005 interview with Mike Wallace for television's 60 Minutes news magazine program, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman said he found the concept of Black History Month to be "ridiculous" and maintained the way to get rid of racism was to "stop talking about it."
But then when it came to Obama, he said the only reason people don't like him is because he is black.
Sorry there are a lot of reasons I don't like Obama, and a couple of reasons I do, but his color does not matter in the let. Not agreeing with someone politically does not make them racists. I wish he would have heeded his 2005 words.

He was referring to the Tea Party not liking him. The Tea Party came in as soon as Obama was elected, many people, besides Freeman and of different nationalities believe the same thing about The Tea Party, even Jimmy Carter believes they are. Osama's gone, Ghaddafi's gone, and he's still hated.

Well, why do you think the Tea Party formed? Why show such disrespect for Obama before he really did anything in office? Remember the "YOU LIE!" comment? Any other president get something like that yelled at him in Congress? Why do you think John Boehner constantly gives Obama his ass to kiss? Why do you think that is? If it's not a race issue, if it's genuinely just because, why did they form when he became President? Why not when Bush was in office? Is he somehow worse than Bush? And how is Carter an idiot? Please explain.
Every actor is entitled to their opinion, I don't hate Jon Voight for being a Bush supporter, nor do I hate or dislike Burt Reynolds for being one as well. I don't know why people make it impossible for Obama, he can't please anyone and everyone no matter what he does or attempts to do. Hell, a little boy actually asked him while he was onstage why did everyone hate him.

Far too discrepencies in ones background and no explanation leads to discension in any presidency. He dropped the ball before leaving the starting gate. Wears a mask

Obama has done right here at home in the United States. Can you say

Okay, what bad things has he done? Are they greater than the scandals of Nixon, Bush or even Clinton's? I mean, you got Palin, Boehner, the Tea Party, hell even Donald Trump ragging on him about his birth certificate, you got Congress/Boehner not passing half of the things he tries to get passed. Did Bush EVER have that problem? Let's not forget, Obama came into the White House right when Bush left everything in shambles. And yeah, he gave the order to kill Osama & Ghaddafi and majority of people praised him for a bit and went back to hating him because of Obamacare.
It's like he can't seem to16d0 win. He wants to be everyone's friend and please everyone but many keep giving him their ass to kiss. I can't think of any other president hounded by people about his birth certificate like he was.

Yeah, but the reality is that even though Obama has done a bunch of things I don't agree with and think he shouldn't have done at all, I can't remember the last time the Republicans (and even some Demob68crats) in Congress have tried to fight against damn near everything Obama has tried to get into law, no matter how beneficial it might be for the American peoplelike Obamacare, which eight million people have signed up for so far, despite the Tea Party nuts screaming about it being a waste of time beep them, anyway.) It seems like John Boehner spends more damn time trying to fight Obama than actually trying to meet him halfway. Even the Minority Leader of the Senate, Mitch McConnell, said the Repubs goal was to make Obama a one term presidenteven if he didn't actually say that until 2010, the fact remains that he still actually said it:
                                  http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/when-did-mcconne ll-say-he-wanted-to-make-obama-a-one-term-president/2012/09/24/79fd5cd 8-0696-11e2-afff-d6c7f20a83bf_blog.html
Also, when the hell has ANY President ever been hounded to death about his birth certificate to the most ridiculous degree. I don't EVER recall any president during my lifetime EVER being grilled over and over again about THEIR birth certificate. Even John McCain, who was born on a U.S. military base in Panama, didn't have the issue of where he was born thrown front and center like that while he was running for President in '08. And if the Tea Party thought things were so damn bad, how come they didn't form until after Bush left office? The economy wasn't doing all that great before Bush left office, but no one ever seems to point that outit's just easier to blame everything on Obama, even though he pretty much inherited Bush's messes, like the war and the economic collapse.
And let's not overlook the very real fact that a lot of people, even to this day, can't stand and still even hate the fact that a black man got into office in the first place, because it just blows the hell out of all their stupid-a**, outdated racist beliefs that only white people are fit to rule because they're white and the majority. You even had some idiots who knew better claiming he couldn't have written his own biographythe man's a Harvard graduate, for God's sakebasically, he gets disrespected and challenged in so many ways that a white President would NEVER even be challenged on. So, Mr. Freeman is right. It isn't racist to say you have problems with Obama, but let's be realfor some people, the fact that he is black is ALWAYS going to be a problemlet's get that straight right away

You can't use those excuses anymore. President Obama has had to own his own failures.

No, let's be honest. From Day One, the media, President Obama, the Administration, Democrats, and liberals in general call anyone who disagrees

American citizenship, for one thing ***wipe, and the fact he hypocritically hides behind Christian values then supports gays. I'm gay and conservative and he is the ultimate in dichotomy. His presidency, i fear, was funded by one of the wealthiest women of color and its obvious.

American citizenship, for one thing ***wipe, and the fact he hypocritically hides behind Christian values then supports gays. I'm gay and conservative and he is the ultimate in dichotomy. His presidency, i fear, was funded by one of the wealthiest women of color and its obvious.
One of the most stunningly intractable posts I've ever read on this here forum.
Since I'm not currently plugged into the running monologue inside your brain, let I suggest that you make some effort to resolve the seeming contradictions in your words.

Yeah, but the reality is that even though Obama has done a bunch of things I don't agree with and think he shouldn't have done at all, I can't remember the last time the Republicans (and even some Democrats) in Congress have tried to fight against damn near everything Obama has tried to get into law, no matter how beneficial it might be for the American peoplelike Obamacare, which eight million people have signed up for so far, despite the Tea Party nuts screaming about it being a waste of time beep them, anyway.) It seems like John Boehner spends more damn time trying to fight Obama than actually trying to meet him halfway.
So, Mr. Freb68eman is right. It isn't racist to say you have problems with Obama, but let's be realfor some people, the fact that he is black is ALWAYS going to be a problemlet's get that straight right away
Agreed, most don't even seem to think that was strange or uncalled for, how Trump, Tea Party, Palin etc were talking about his birth certificate.
