I hope there are more dates. I'd love to go again. According to his son Cody, there's nothing planned at the moment.

I wouldn't mind going again, mainly because the audio at the one I went to was so awful (or at least my section must have been an acoustic dead zone). Perhaps if he does another album, he'll do more shows or something. Maybe he'll reunite the Coupe de Villes, heh.

Did you go to the Pittsburgh show? I heard the audio was bad there. Also, I wish they had played at least a few more songs.

Yes, Pittsburgh (I think I posted about it elsewhere on this board). I was only ten rows back, but was in the side section on the aisle. The set was drowned in bass, so much so that sometimes I struggled to make out the higher pitched parts like the opening piano to "Halloween" and most of the intricacies of the newer album cuts with which I'm not as familiar. "The Thing" sounded like a bunch of thumps, and the "Assault" bass sounded like loud farts. The guys behind me remarked that it was bad, so it2000 wasn't just me. However, a co-worker was only about five or six rows in front of me in the same section, and he didn't have a problem, and neither did the concert promoter when I e-mailed him. I'm not sure if the sound was reverberating off the balcony which was right above me or what. The pre-show music that was playing semi-softly on the speakers was also completely unintelligible; I couldn't even tell what they were playing.
My co-worker cynically felt that Carpenter wasn't "playing" a whole lot in reality, but I think he was doing the easy parts (like the repeating "Assault" line), with his son taking the lead. I doubt he'd do this tour if he was just going to mimic it. I thought I came across a photo online from a previous concert where he had a guitar, but he didn't pick one up. I assume he can play guitar because he had one in that nutty "Big Trouble" video. They should have played a little longer (maybe done other selections from the same movies like the other famous "Halloween" music), and Carpenter should have talked more and taken some questions because he has such a great personality. The guy behind me yelled for him to tell "the Pittsburgh story", but Carpenter didn't acknowledge him.
