I think he had it with Thomas Crown its just that the momentum of that film past just like The Mask of Zorro and his other three Bond flicks.
They were considered great at their respective time. even Titanic has lost popularity among cinephiles and critics who they couldn't have enough praise when it was released.
Tho2000usands of successful films latter become unsuccessful with time and loose steam maybe within some years the only successful Craig film as Bond could be Casino Royale.
Sean Connery struggled a lot in his first years post Bond it was till untouchables that he had a real career post Bond. If it wasn't for that film he could have been forgotten or only remembered as the best Bond but no one having a clue with his other films.
And really if the son succeds i wouldn't mind if he doesn't go back to the big screen and instead chooses to do great series, just like Hugh. Right now its an odd path staying on tv. Usually actors if they got successful with one tv show they see it as an opportunity to jump to the big screen and look for the oscar but maybe it won't be in a short future.
I could see all the previous generations of actors choosing tv and the ones who started quite late along with new comers. Sadly the movie world haa become like the modeling world is a no medium for old men.
Modeling and film has become a place for the Young and beautiful.

Thomas Crown came close in attracting a wider audience. Yes, its reception is excellent. However, it mostly attracted mature audiences, and it opened #4 at the US box office. The point is that Crown doesn't have much more mainstream audience as it did as Pierce's Bonds. Considering he's not fan of his own Bonds after GoldenEye (even though I personally enjoy them), I prayed that he would have a third career bigger and better than Bond. November Man could've been that vehicle, but like his every post-GoldenEye works unfortunately, it still victim into the realm of not so good reviews/ratings or not getting the recognition they deserves. If not November Man, The Son is all we got. The thing is that since Pierce is the best and most popular since Sean, he deserves as much respect and recognition as the latter.
