    as they say
unless its something out of the ordinary, when he talk about the average super hero/pixar/theme ride popcorn movie. those are really cheap to make. unlike the old spider man and x-men movie where they actually had to film practical, now they film everything on green screen and just use MAYA (a very expensive 3d software for home users) and the entire movie is just CG. what's left is just paying the actors, directors and so. basically the whole budget just goes to that. paying the stuff. sure actors are greedy and they get alot of money. i'm talking milions. but that to be expected.
the film making itself is very cheap to make. the cgi is bad is most of them anyway. nothing is really practical. its all cheap CG. and you can see it. even historical movies are pure CG. go see the napoleon trailer. its all cheap CGI. shows like masters of the air are also purley CG. whoever tell you those popcorn trash movies have 200-300 budget is fooling you. its nonsense. this is nothing but money laundring.
if budgets were so high then they would not risk it because most of those movies flop anyway. the actual real expensive shows/movies like band of brothers/the pacific and so on are all practical. practical = expensive. cgi = cheap. anyone can make the same cgi at home if hes skilled enough. the difference is that on movies there are alot of 3d artists who are very skilled. still the CGI mostly garbage. especielly on tv production. but the money goes to the salaries of the stuff. not to the actual movie. the actual movie is very easy & cheap to make
whenever i see that a sonic or a mario movie have a 250 milion budget i cant stop laughing. this is borderline satire. they are fooling you big time. all those movies are are just 2 hours of video game cutscenes. the pixar stuff as well. the pixar stuff dosent even look good. all the characters look like creepy dolls

Is anything you buy these days "close to be expensive"?
      Everyone "are fooling you".
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.
