Spiderman actually dies in the episode "Cold Storage."
The part where he is flung from the post apocalyptic new york city and appears to regain consciousness after being saved by "the iceman" is just misdirection.
It is actually another hallucinatory dream of sorts (death). The iceman character is a bit too weird (listen carefully to what he says and how he says it) and the events that transpire are a bit too odd for me to feel comfortable with any of that being reality within its own continuum.
Did you notice how similar the capture of the criminals was to the steps that led to Dr. Cool and his henchman getting the upper hand on spidey and locking him in the refrigeration unit in the first place? That is another tipoff that things definitely are not back to normal by the end of the episode which would have been typical of the series.
It is my theory that the iceman is a supernatural angel type figure whose purpose is to usher Spidey into the afterlife. Everything we see after the approach of absolute zero on the thermometer (face it, he was exposed to those temperatures too long to have survived)the death throes were taking place during the wonderful hallucinatory future dream and then he officially dies when he is "revived" by the iceman.
All the episodes which follow this one are about ghost spidey's adventures in the superhero afterlife.
As a matter of fact, all Spiderman cartoon series and movies that follow are about spiderman after he is dead.
Interesting that during his adventures in the 80s cartoon series "Spiderman and his Amazing Friends", he is teamed up with.who?.Iceman.
That was how much of a pivotal figure he was in the spiderman universe. On earth during his brief visits he would appear as just an ice delivery man, but in the afterlife you get to see his full powers during the 80s cartoon.
Of course in the comic book continuum, Spidey is still alive. but in pictures with motion involvedhe is dead.
RIP Spider-man (Jan. 11th, 1969)

I think it was a missed oppportunity with this episode. Spidey could had awken in another future showing an alternate future besides the "Planet of the Apes" future he saw. Since they recycled 2 plotlines from 2 Rocket Robin Hood episodes into Spiderman episodes (the Manta Menace and Revolt in the Fifth dimension), just imagine what could had been the opportunity: a crossover episode with Rocket Robin Hood! Spidey awaken in the world of RRH and his Merry Men meeting RRH nemesis Prince John, Sheriff of Nott, Warold of Saturn and re-meeting 2 old nemesis from his past: Dr. Manta and Infinita!
Note also then after being in a "Cold Storage", the following episode showed Spidey in a little more "hot storage" in "To cage a Spider" when he was injured and transported to the prison infirmery with cons who taked Captain Stacy in hostage (note then part of that footage was recycled in "Specialist and slaves" with the Master Technician renamed the Radiation specialist lifted Manhattan island in the sky again) -

"Cold Storage" is one of my favorite episodes. And I agree very much with your theory in fact I take it a step further and state that everything Spidey-related that's been published (be it movies, cartoons and the comics) after Jan 11/1969 is basically a long psychedelic dream as Spider-Man travels through the afterlife. I hope that the recent "Brand New Day" story arc (where the marriage to Mary Jane has been retconned away) will finally address this anomaly.
