The Avengers were pretty mean to him, especially Tony and Jan. He was pretty clear that he disliked violence and was a misfit. He only hung around as an Avenger because of Jan. But it seemed that they kept pressurizing him to become something he was not. Carol and Jan even accused him of not caring because he left due to his beliefs. That pressure basically caused him to have a split personality and become Yellowjacket.

I just wish the show would've thrown Antman a bone and allowed him to talk down just one villain.

Me too. I kinda wish they would have showed some of the others' opinions on the matter. I feel like at least some of them would understand, Captain America maybe?

It parallels the comics. He started out as a generic scientist who accidentily shrank himself and was trapped in an anthill. He wasn't written to be a superhero , and in some ways this has been consistent with his numerous identities he's undergone over the years. And the personality issues he's had.

Yes, specially in the chapter "Everything is Wonderful", He feels like a tool and nobody wants to listen him,
