ive never read the comics, ive just seen the film.
It wasnt THAT bad. I think people are only bad mouthing it because all the fans of the comics are comparing the film to the comics.
As a stand alone film, it wasnt too bad. It had some action, plot twists and Sean Connery. Whats wrong with all that?
Dont think of it as a remake of the comics, think of it as someone elses view on the league of gentlemen story.
Dont get so worked up. Now im off to watch Big Trouble In Little China. That film rocks. -

Nope, the idea did not sound great. I hadn't expected much and my worst fears were confirmed the moment Captain Nemo started doing Kung Fu. It only got worse and then had the nerve to end with a setup for a sequel. Who the heck at this studio has the job of filtering out bad scripts? Sirens should have been going off in their heads when they read the lines "And now masked henchmen burst into the library and Captain Nemo starts spinning around doing Judo chops on the villians." Somebody had to have gotten fired for making this.

i've read the comics and seen (have) the movie, this movie is awesome
i agree with whover said that other peoiple might be bashing it because of what other fans of the comics said, but the fans don't understand that they're not gonna get a perfect movie EVER,and the other people are just stupid and brainless

I liked it when I saw it. It has Sean connery, and half of the characters I knew about. The other half I later found out what books they were from.
I was 13, and it was awesome! Just lots of cool stuff going on. And the climax was great. -

I've never read the comic, but the movie was painful viewing. So uncomfortable it was that in the late part of the film I smiled at the 'nailed' gag that I was so desperate for pain relief besides than turning it off.

FYI: Sean Connery hated making this movie and totally hated the director, and yes, it is indeed the common wisdom that the miserable experience he and the rest of the crew had making this film led to his decision to retire from moviemaking.
