The Dark Knight Returns (where BvS got Batman's character from) was made to show why Batman can't and shouldn't kill people. It is the end of Batman. Now, because of Batman vs Superman, when somebody asks why Batman is killing people, people will point to The Dark Knight Returns and say that's why he can kill people.

They tried to depict Batman in BVS as a man who had been fighting for soo long that he lost his ideals and gave into killing. I believe he had Robins uniform with the Jokers spray painting on it saying "HAHA Jokes on you", likely referring to the death of Jason Todd Robin (or at least some version of Robins death). This was supposed to be a Batman on the other side of the tunnel so to speak, not one just starting out, but one that had been through the grinder and became disillusioned with what he was doing.

Even the Dark Knight Returns Batman didn't become disillusion when Jason Todd died and stayed dead. That Batman still believed good in humanity despite the tragedies he has seen and his own.
And honestly, Alfred, Dick Grayson would not let Bruce become
so disillusion when fighting crime. -

Folks need to actually read that book. He used rubber bullets.
He didn't kill anyone and he beat Superman only to prove to Clark that he could.
He had no intentions on killing Clark.
Zack took that book and urinated all over it.
Batman had a no kill rule because he didn't want people to regard him as a murderer.
And when the Joker killed himself, and made it look like Bruce did it, the cops went after him.
It doesn't matter who the criminal is, Batman is a vigilante and therefore a criminal. Adding murder to his rsum would make him no different than the criminals he goes after.
