can't run anymore, he's not close enough to try and wrestle with Diamondback for the gun. No witnesses are around and no other heroes to interfere. Diamondback has even played his game of cat and mouse with Cage with sadistic joy. All he has to do is aim for the brain or heart. Or he could just aim for Luke's shoulder and allow Cage to duck into a dumpster.
Thankfully Diamondback read the script and knew Cage needed to live longerfor some reason. Seriously that was sh!t writing and made no sense at all for Diamondback to do.
Trusting someonemeans relying on them and only the weak do that.
