They didn't give her some sort of G-string gear, that would have been provocative and totally derailing.
Instead, she has on a skirt, that is not only practical (it's the right size), but it highlights her grace and femininity.

Don't worry, I'm sure the Asylum knockoff will feature Kitana Baker in some sort of G-string gear.
What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if it stayed closer to the comic book version. And it is not really a G-string.

Someone forgot to tell John Byrne and Mike Deodato that in the 90s.

A very good point, Rahman, about highlighting her grace and femininity.
Also, it is a reference to very early Wonder Woman comics from World War II era since she wore a skirt back then also, I think
And, if I am correct, she's wearing a similar skirt in the Rebirth Comics also. Though, I may have gotten her confused with Supergirl. At any rate, I think the skirt that Wonder Woman wears is a good costume decision.

Technically she wore culottes which soon became biker shorts which soon became Speedos.
That said, I never had a problem with a WW wearing a war-skirt/pteruges (like in
                Kingdom Come
                ).

It, indeed, makes the most sense that she would wear something worn by ancient Greek warriors.

Well, not exactly since Greek myth places the Amazons coming from what is now Turkey.

                      Pteruges, I believe.
and no I don't know how it's pronounced.
