make the " Iron Man Sucks" Joke?
I am no lawyer but I am assuming the word "Iron Man" is copyrighted and theyd need written permission.
At least in the old days they would. I suppose nowadays Marvel knows it would give them bad PR to sue over something so trivial.

technically my watch is an "iron man" watch, nothing to do with marvel, but timex. 🙂 and iron man refers to body builders I think? they could argue with that. 😄

No, they didn't. Merely referencing something is well within the bounds of fair use.
Check out my action-packed short film,

Satire is protected speech under the 1st Amendment, and circumvents any need to get permission/pay royalties/etc. You just can't go too far with it before you step out from under the umbrella of protection. Like, they couldn't do a LEGO Iron Man Movie in the same style as TLBM without signing some pretty substantial deals first.
You know what noone tells you about cooking with the Dark Side? The food is really good!

Although they didn't have to Im sure they did. Marvel/Disney/Star Wars have a great relationship with Lego and I'm sure Lego would not want to tarnish that relationship over a small joke.
